OVERVIEW

Standing at 19,340 feet above sea level, Kilimanjaro is one of the world’s Seven Summits. Experience the adventure of a lifetime with 40/40 Adventures. Standing at Uhuru Peak looking out across the clouds, you will understand exactly what draws adventurers from across the world to the snow-covered mountain of Kilimanjaro. Discover what it takes to become a summiteer, working as a team, experiencing life amongst our Tanzanian guides and porters. Become part of a unique expedition and feel the solidarity amongst your team as well as that personal satisfaction of completing a summit climb.

ROUTE

Our team will be summiting via the Machame Route or popularly known as the “Whiskey Route” as it offers a tougher challenge than other climbs. As possibly one of the most scenic routes to the summit, Machame boasts several paths to the highest point and back. We will approach Mount Kilimanjaro from the south, beginning with a short drive from Moshi to the Machame Gate. Our path will lead us through lush rainforest, traversing a ridge onto the moorland of the Shira Plateau. We will then turn east and traverse under Kilimanjaro’s Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before we summit via Barafu Camp. After reaching the Roof of Africa, we will descend via the Mweka Route and return to Moshi.

Along the route we will be supported by Mountain Guide Aloyce Nyaringa and his experienced team of porters. Along with sharing their knowledge and love for their mountain, they will provide us with the opportunity to experience the climb of a lifetime.

40/40 Adventures LLC is led by David Gill, a seasoned expedition leader with over 20 years’ experience working with groups in backcountry environments. Several years of this was spent in hostile environments managing and leading teams in the removal of the remnants of war. David has lived and worked across Africa, Europe, Asia, South & Central America and the United States.

Aloyce Nyaringa will be our Lead Guide on Uhuru Peak 1. Aloyce lives in Moshi and is a seasoned expedition leader and Mountain Guide having summited Kilimanjaro on hundreds of occasions. Aloyce will lead our team of guides and porters that will ensure that our summit attempt will be a success!
