David Gill - Director and Co-founder
David’s love for the outdoors and adventure began at an early age. Growing up in a Military family his taste for adventure saw him join the Air Training Corps. During his teenage years, many weekends were spent learning navigation and camp craft skills that would be invaluable later on in life. David was presented with the opportunity to gain his wings, learning to fly gliders and going solo in the skies above his native Cornwall.
At the University of Exeter, he read Outdoor Education. Following graduation David was selected for Officer Training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Since 2000, he has instructed at Outward Bound Wales, led expeditions across South America, Central America, Europe, Africa and Asia. For several years he worked for The HALO Trust in the removal of landmines and the remnants of war.
On leaving this career, David returned to his love of experiential education and in particular overseas expeditions. Firstly, as the Sales and Marketing Manager for a specialist UK based company and then as the Operations Manager in Ghana for a schools’ partnership and adventure travel company. He has led expeditions, traveled and worked in Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Belize, The United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, The Netherlands, Greece, Spain, France, Switzerland, Armenia, Georgia, Nagorno Karabakh, Abkhazia, Croatia, Morocco, Ghana, Malawi, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Mongolia, China and Afghanistan.
David Co-founded 40/40 Adventures in 2016, fulfilling his ambition to bring together a network of specialists from across the globe to deliver life changing expeditions. David became a Fellow of The Royal Geographical Society in 2010.

Richard Knight - Risk Management Director
Richard has extensive links to both British and allied special forces & intelligence communities alike; he often works as a trusted advisor concerning the resolution of overseas crisis situations. Over the last fifteen years he has been involved in medical and emergency extractions in some of the world’s hottest of hotspots from Mogadishu to Baghdad, through Syria to earthquakes in Japan, electoral crises in the Caribbean to flooding in South East Asia, Richard has worked with some of the most respected companies, NGO’s and government organizations acting as their go-to rescue contact
His areas of specialty are emergency international logistics, overseeing emergency medical evacuation response, remote area emergency response, hostile environment emergency response, international crisis resolution and preventative consulting, international ex-filtration, disaster response & logistical support.
Richard has worked for Europ Assistance at a senior management level and ISOS to name a few. He has also written extensively in various publications and also spoken at various conferences
Devin Abrahmson - Expedition Leader
Devin can confidently walk into a room with 100 strangers and feel completely comfortable giving a briefing or breaking the ice with his positive attitude and out of the box approach. His ability to communicate with anyone is a true asset. Devin stands out in the role as an expedition leader with his compassion, attention to detail; his work ethic and his ability to problem solve and think off the cuff. His experience and love of the outdoors comes from a number of years living and working in the Kalahari Desert at Augrabies Falls, where he guided canoe and white water rafting expeditions and led groups into the Kalahari Desert. During his time here he was also involved with film, documentaries and even some stunt work. Devin then moved to KwaZulu Natal, where he worked at Zingela, a bush lodge where he guided many adventurous activities. During his time here he met a retired British Special Forces Colonel who owns a UK based expedition and outdoor education company. This led to Devin moving to the United Kingdom for four years where he gained invaluable experience and outdoor instructor training qualifications. Devin worked with numerous groups delivering multi day school programs, survival training, military cadet training, youth at risk courses. Returning to South Africa he took up the role as Director of Operations for Zingela. Devin currently resides in Cape Town South Africa.
